Say NO to Higher Taxes on Illinois Families – Sign My Petition

The Illinois General Assembly has wrapped up its spring session, and if you’re a taxpayer, the news isn’t good. In just six years, Governor JB Pritzker has grown the state’s budget by nearly 40% — the fastest and most aggressive expansion of government spending in Illinois history.

Ask yourself: has your income gone up 40%? Of course not. But you’re still expected to bail out this reckless spending spree.

This year alone, lawmakers passed nearly $1 billion in new spending and revenue. And that wasn’t enough — they also tried to raise your taxes with:

  • A $1.50 delivery tax on nearly every package delivered to your home,
  • A new service tax on everyday needs like haircuts and home repairs,
  • And a mom & pop tax on digital ads that would hit every business in the state, including small, family-run shops trying to stay afloat online.

We stopped these tax hikes—for now. But make no mistake: they will be back.

These proposals are part of a long-term plan that shifts even more of the burden to working families, seniors, and the people already stretched to their limit.

Delivery isn’t a luxury anymore — it’s how families get diapers, groceries, and takeout after a long day. A delivery tax punishes people for staying home. A service tax means higher prices on everything from an oil change to a haircut — a tax on daily life that working families can’t afford. And a mom & pop tax on digital ads that hits small businesses where it hurts, making it harder for them to reach customers and grow. It kills opportunity, especially for communities that rely on those jobs.

Here’s the kicker: while Governor Pritzker is exploding government spending and shifting the burden onto Illinois families, Washington is moving in the opposite direction—cutting taxes and delivering real relief for working people, seniors, and families trying to get ahead.

Meanwhile, state government keeps growing—and it’s the only sector seeing consistent job growth. Illinois is falling behind our neighbors when it comes to private-sector jobs and economic opportunity.

So while families are making tough choices between rent and groceries, prescriptions and childcare, Springfield keeps spending. We held the line this time—but the fight isn’t over. The blueprint for higher taxes is clear. And unless we demand change, it’s working families who will pay the price.

Illinois deserves a government that lives within its means—not one that keeps coming back for more. If you agree, click here to sign my petition. Join Me in Celebrating Our Office Openings!

I’m excited to invite you to join me for a series of open houses on Wednesday, June 11! I’ll be teaming up with Representatives Jason Bunting and Dennis Tipsword to host events in Dwight, Pontiac, and El Paso—all in one day—with the hope of meeting as many of you as possible.

These open houses are a great opportunity to connect, ask questions, and pick up materials about state resources and services that might be helpful to you or your family. We’ll have light snacks, coffee, and friendly faces ready to welcome you.

I hope you’ll stop by one of the locations—we’d truly love to see you there!
