SPRINGFIELD, IL – Following the public release of the Legislative Inspector General’s report regarding former State Representative Harry Benton, State Senator Chris Balkema (R-Channahon) issued the following statement:
“The findings in this report are deeply troubling. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and protected in their workplace. This is not a partisan issue, it’s about doing what’s right. For years, meaningful ethics reforms have been ignored. It’s time to put politics aside, strengthen accountability, and ensure this never happens again.”
